Garden District Security District

Providing around-the-clock enhanced security patrols since 1998.

Since 1998, Garden District Security Patrol officers have provided around-the-clock enhanced security patrols for the neighborhood. This includes multiple private patrol officers on simultaneous duty plus one NOPD detail officer on duty most evenings for several hours. All day, every day, GDSD officers are available in the District to assist you in emergency situations, to check your home or business when you are out of town, escort you safely from your car to your door, or check out suspicious persons in the area. They work closely with the NOPD officers of the Sixth District to monitor and deter crime in the area and report crimes that have occurred.

All residents and businesses within the boundaries of Louisiana Avenue, Carondelet Street, Jackson Avenue and Magazine Street (both sides of all streets) are eligible to receive GDSD patrol service any time, day or night. The positive results of this coverage can be noted in our crime statistics which are often lower than many other nearby areas and across the city that do not enjoy enhanced security patrols.

Added Security Always Within Reach

The GDSD keeps a continuous, 24/7, lookout for you and your neighbors via patrolling GDSD officers. On most evenings for a five or six hour random period, the GDSD will also provide an off-duty NOPD officer to patrol the area and to be available for any emergencies that may arise. Periodically, horseback patrols may be hired by the GDSD to monitor the District. These security services are in addition to the normal NOPD coverage for the area that is provided by the Sixth District of the New Orleans Police Department.

All officers are within a stone’s throw from your home or place of business. Calls to the GDSD number (504)899-4373 (GDSD) are answered directly by an officer on duty in the District. All officers carry appropiate communication tools at all times allowing clear interaction between all parties involved.

Reporting situations electronically via your cell phone is easy. Simply go to the App store and download the SDT App Task Force, open it and follow the instructions. Allow for push notifications (messages sent to you) if you wish and begin using the app to report a crime, ask for a vacation check or escort, etc.
